Hondo’s Farewell to Washington

On March 21, 1978, the Washington Bullets defeated the Boston Celtics 119-107.

What’s so special about a random regular season game from ‘78? Well, 1978 was John Havlicek’s final season in the NBA, and this game would be his final one at the Capital Centre! Bullets fans were lucky. They witnessed one of the final games of Hondo’s career, saw Elvin Hayes score 34 points, and watched the Bullets defeat the Celtics.

The image above is an original flyer that was handed out to those in attendance. While I was not lucky enough to witness the game in person, I was able to get my hands on this flyer last month. This cool piece of sports history is a phun addition to the collection!
