NFL BLITZ (PS2) + DENNIS RODMAN STARTING LINEUP
I recently went to Wolff’s Flea Market (Rosemont, IL) and secured the best pickup up the month.
First, we’ve got NFL Blitz (2003) for the PS2! A Midway classic with hard hits, roided up players, and intense gameplay. This will actually be my first time playing the PS2 version, as I’m a bit more familiar with the N64, PS1 and GBA (this one was rough) versions. This game is best to be played locally vs. friends, so I may be saving this for when the Philbin bros. are all in town together.
For the second pickup, we’ve got a ‘97 Dennis Rodman Starting Lineup figure! What made this pickup special was the quirky interaction I had with the sellers. He had a mixture of SLUs, Mattels, comics, and other sports memorabilia. I almost snagged a Damon Stoudamire, but being in Chicago, I had to scoop up the Rodman with red-dyed hair. One of the guys had wild white hair and a mustache like Albert Einstein. However, instead of having extensive knowledge of quantum physics, it was Starting Lineups, and Mattel trivia. Word on the street is that he may have rivaled John on SLU knowledge. When I purchased the figure, I was even getting quizzed by his brother (who looked even more like Einstein) on things like what team Dennis Rodman was drafted by. Nice try, but I knew that one, Einstein! It was a fun experience, and it was awesome to come across another Starting Lineup head OG. They may or may not have inspired an upcoming Phun Phact Phriday. Stay tuned!
